A Swiss team re-analyzed 64 nights of strictly controlled sleep-lab data from 33 volunteers (ages 20-74) who slept in windowless rooms with no time cues. Near full moon they found: deep-sleep (NREM delta) activity down 30%, time to fall asleep +5 minutes, total sleep -20 minutes, lower evening melatonin, and lower self-rated sleep quality. It was the first peer-reviewed evidence of a lunar rhythm in human sleep under controlled conditions.
